A meta analysis of the effects of intervention for child abuse victims

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to analyze effects of intervention for child abuse victims in Korea by meta-analysis. After review of 2.333 articles released from 1970 to 2012 from RISS, KISS, nanet. and then depending on the selection criteria, 12 articles were conducted to determine methodological data, using Stata 10.0. After systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted 10 articles. There were nonequivalence control group pre-posttest study design. Intervention types of these studies were 3realistic therapy, 2theraplay, 2 dance therapy, 1 play therapy, 1 cognitive-behavioral therapy, 1art therapy. And effects size of overall intervention was 0.64 which was moderate level in terms of Cohen criteria. The intervention was effective in improving self-esteem and interaction skill. Based on the result of this study, following suggestions are proposed. Therapy for child abuse victims should be continue. And developing on critical pathway for child abuse victims are suggested.
